Guatemala-El Salvador Mission

Elder and Sister Noorlander
1973-1974

A letter that Abraham Rojoche sent to the Noorlanders after they returned home from their mission, which a missionary helped him write.

Basilia Rojoche

Basilia my little 11-year-old helper! We made 2 or 3 trips a week to the City for Dan's project supplies. It was an all day trip. He felt so frustrated after our first few long days in the city, that President Arnold said I could be the supply truck driver, but could never go alone, and Basilia loved the idea of going everywhere with me. Lots of times we had missionaries with us as well. I drove 25,000 kilometers without an accident.

Dear Hermanos Noorlander. I am writing to find out if you made it to your home safe and sound. We are sending our greetings to you and hoping you are happy and in good health.

We are all very sad that you are not here with us here in Patzicia. We all miss you very much.

I am still working here with the co-op. The work is still going good. The corn is very tall and looks good.

You said to write and tell you if I made it through the fiesta. I am very happy to write and tell you that I didn’t have one drink. I am happy for it and for your advice.

Please write and tell me if this letter arrives to you.

My garden is really growing, and we enjoy the vegetables from it. My rabbits are in good shape.

My wife and children are very proud of me for not drinking. We all want to thank you for all the love, help, and advice that you gave to me and my family.

Sincerely,
Abraham Rojoche
